If you are used to seeing BackflipForums.com don't be alarmed. We have decided to upgrade the site to the latest version of vBulletin and change the name of the site.
Your previous usernames/passwords should still work and all your posts and questions and answers are still around. The entire moderation and administration team is still here as well.
So you may be asking yourself, what happened and why the change?
We have realized that the Backflip is a great phone, but just one of many Android powered phones that will operate on the AT&T network. As an AT&T customers you are now going to be faced with a number of choices... no longer are you limited to just one or two, a whole plethora of phones await you.
We've got the Nexus One, the Motorola Backflip and now new phones coming out based on the HTC Aria and the Samsung Galaxy (S) and more...
We felt that in order to make sure this community not only offers the best support around but continues to grows that it would be in our best interested to expand the coverage of the site.
We hope you can understand our reasoning for the changes and that you might embrace the new site and perhaps even consider using us for support for your possible future devices as well.
Be sure to check these areas of the site out:
Thanks for your time!

The Sony Xperia X10 could receive a major Android update a lot sooner then originally we were thinking it would, if ever. Today on Sony Ericsson's UK Twitter account was a tweet that read "We can only confirm that the upgrade to Android 2.1 is due for release before the end of September this year. We hope that helps" This doesn't guarantee we'll see the 2.1 update here in the US, but I think it's a promising sign!

We would like to be the first to welcome the new Dell Aero to AT&T's expanding lineup of Android Phones. The dell is available today for $99 with the typical 2 year contract/agreement and $299 without. Here's a quick recap of the specs:
- Android platform complete with Android Market and Dell user interface enhancements
- 3.5-inch (640 x 360p) capacitive multi-touch display with pinch-to-zoom functionality
- Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
- Tri-Band UMTS/HSDPA (850/1900/2100 MHz)
- WiFi + Bluetooth
- 2 GB* on board user accessible Micro SD with expandable memory available up to 32 GB*
- Full HTML Browser with Adobe Flashlite
- GPS/A-GPS navigation
- POP, IMAP, Webmail and Microsoft Active Sync E-mail
“The Dell Aero is built with a focus on style and performance to help people find new ways to connect with friends and express themselves socially supported by the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network.” – Ron Garriques, president, Dell Communication Solutions
Now to the bad part of the announcement. The phone comes with Android 1.5. I'll repeat that just to make sure you understood me correctly. This phone has Android 1.5! It's so frustrating to see a new Android Phone coming to AT&T with software that is completely obsolete. As far as we know, there has been no mention of an update coming either.
That version of Android is a deal breaker for me, let us know your thoughts in the Dell Aero Forum.

It's a good day for Motorola BackFlip Owners! Motorola has announced the time line for Android upgrades on all current US model phones. The Motorola Backflip is scheduled for Q3 release with beta testing currently underway. The Motorola Devour's life was cut short and is the only phone on the list not to receive any update. The Motorola Droid is currently receiving the Android 2.2 update as we speak and the Droid X is soon to follow.
