Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY 4G Hits AT&T Shelves
AT&T Wireless posted today its Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY 4G online, a highly anticipated PlayStation-certified smartphone offering that had Android gamers go loco for a GSM-capable option.
The Xperia PLAY 4G sports a PSP-like gaming buttons, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset with 1GHz Scorpion processor and Adreno 205 GPU, 4-inch (480 x 854 pixels) LED-backlit LCD, 1 GB internal storage (expandable up to 32 GB via microSD), 512 MB RAM, and Timescape UI on top of Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
A 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash graces the back and a WVGA camera for video calls is available on the front.
While Verizon Wireless also offers the Xperia PLAY 4G, it lacks support for GSM network connectivity, whereas AT&T’s version supports the feature alongside 4G-like wireless data transfer speeds on its network and packs AT&T Navigator, AT&T FamilyMap, AT&T U-verse Live TV and YPmobile.
The handset also comes preloaded with games like Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD, Crash Bandicoot, Dungeon Defenders: Second Wave, Madden NFL 11, Star Battalion, The Sims 3, and Tower Bloxx: My City.
The Xperia PLAY 4G currently costs a cent below the 50-dollar mark with a two-year contract, or $399.99 without commitments.
