Samsung Captivate shows duplicate contacts in my messaging contact list.
I have been in to AT&T we have done everything to resetting factory settings. New sim card. I only show one contact in my list of contacts but when I go to my messaging to pick a contact the contacts come up as duplicates. I can't find anywhere to delete. Can someone help with this?

Most likely it is because in your messaging it is showing both contact sources. It is reading the SIM and the phone, and yes it is kind of annoying. short of deleting one or the other, there's nothing I am aware of to do about it. my sim keeps my contacts easily and somewhat safe so I can tranfer between phones, but if you use only sim contacts you can't assign ringtones or pictures to them. I wish someone had an answer.

thanks anyway..I have taken it into at&t and have reset factory settings, put in a new sim card, and they can't figure it out...rrr it is so annoying...

I found this annoying too but resolved it by linking the contacts, so I only see one contact but when I open it I can see it is linked to other accounts, like Google, Facebook, the similar card.

If one of the two has a boxed G next to it, it is saved on your google account. If this is the case, the fix is simple: Select the duplicate -> Hit the menu key -> "Join Contact" -> ...join it with the duplicate. Or if you have multiple .vcf files on your external SD card and "Import All/Multiple vCards" it will occasionally create duplicate entry's in your contacts.

I am also having the same issue. Only shows on mesaging contacts. I am on my way to an ATT store today. Wish me luck!

I went back to ATT and they gave me a new SIM card. It fixed the problem but I lost some contacts (they must have been on my old phone not SIM card). Luckily I have my old phone and I could check and then manually add them.
