Newbies guide to customizing your Samsung Captivate

Hey guys,

I'm interested in the following link:

I followed this noob guide the other day, but I'm a little confused. All of the replacement ROMs I've seen require reflashing back to stock. Where can I find that update.zip and/or is that not required?

Trying to root captivate. I keep getting an error msg. It keeps trying to install from an sd card that i unmounted and removed. Exact error is:
-Installing muti-csc
-install from sdcard.....
finding update pkg......
opening update pkg.....
Error: Can't open/sd card/update.zip ( no such file or directory)
Install aborted.

Any suggestions. There is no sd card or one mounted!

You NEED to install the update.zip INTO the internal SD card. Remove any external sd car. Plug phone into computer. Enable USB for file transfer. copy the update.zip into the sd card that shows up on your pc. IF it doesnt let you into the SD card then you do not have the drivers for your phone installed/ installed correctly. Then follow the directions from here

See what you mean. I see the update.zip on my directory. How do I get it into the internal sd ( i am a newbie and trying)? I do not see that on my my phone. Debugging is on and mass storage is on. It is labeled removable disk f on my computer.

Start --> My Computer --> and look for the "Removable Storage" drive that is 13.1GB in size. That will be your phone's internal SD storage, if you have it mounted properly.
