Rooted 2.1 upgrade to 2.2
I have a rooted 2.1 and want to upgrade to but I'm really concerned about losing app data. Will Titanium Backup do this? Also does it do pics and contacts? And one last thing, will I have to wait until after I've rooted 2.2 to use Titanium Backup to restore?

Titanium Backup will backup only applications. It is recommended only to backup data apps like games and apps like banking or something you picked up in the market. If you backup system apps and restore, you could crash your phone.
For pictures, if you can't backup to your desktop, see if a third-party app like flicker will backup online for you. Google + does backup now for images but thats a closed beta if you didn't already get in.
Backup for stuff like sms, check out SMSBackup+
You will need to root 2.2 in order to get Titanium backup working.
Any reason why you do not consider 2.3?

I didn't know 2.3 was available yet. Wanna post some links so I can read where to dl, etc? But Titanium Backup would not save something like game progress?

Game progress is saved too.
I have a thread in this forum http://www.attdroids.com/forum/samsu...ngerbread.html on getting to Gingerbread.
Its a leaked version from samfirmware who got it from an insider at Samsung, so this is not the official release from AT&T. If you want to stay within warranty, then stick to 2.2

Yes. Your Angry Birds gold stars are safe with tibu.
1. Download it from the market. Run the app, then: Menu key -> Batch -> [RUN] Backup all user apps
2. Install your 2.2
3. Download tibu from the market again. Run the app, then: Menu key -> Batch -> [RUN] Restore missing apps with data
4. ????
5. Profit
